Nino Kharatishvili’s The Eighth Life (For Brilka) is in the long list of 2020 of Booker prize. The writer represents Georgia-Germany in the contest.
The shortlist for the Booker Prize will be announced on April 2, and the winner – on May 19.
The work of translators is celebrated, with the £50,000 prize money divided equally between the author and translator.
The Eighth Life (for Brilka) was translated from German into English and published by Scribe Publications in 2019.
The Booker prize has been awarded each year since 1969. Each year, the prize is awarded to the best novel of the year written in English and published in the UK and Ireland.
