NCDC: Georgia able to store all three types of COVID vaccine

Khatuna Zakhashvili, head of the Department of Communicable Diseases of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), said that Georgia could receive all three types of Covid-19 vaccines and store them at three different temperature conditions.

According to Zakhashvili, Georgia is a member of the Covax Platform. The country is actively preparing to receive the vaccine on time, presumably in early spring.

“Georgia is on the waiting list of the countries that are members and expect the vaccine from this platform. At the same time, Georgia is holding individual negotiations with producers, different countries and is trying to acquire additional Covid-19 vaccines,” said Khatuna Zakhashvili. She added that the vaccine imported into Georgia would be safe.

Khatuna Zakhashvili also commented on the extension of Covid-related regulations till February 1. NCDC representative believes that lifting any restriction and active movement would lead to a rise in Covid-19 cases. Therefore, the restrictions should be lifted carefully and gradually.
