NCDC Deputy Head gets AstraZeneca shot live on TV

Deputy Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Paata Imnadze, got the first shot of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine live on TV on Monday.

Imnadze, who inoculated at the Tbilisi Infectious Diseases Hospital, says he feels well after the jab.

Georgia received the first batch of 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on March 13. The medical workers and other risk group individuals will get the first shots.

Vaccination kicks off today in 29 regional centres of the country except for Tbilisi. From March 17, inoculation will start in all eighty-nine districts.

Additional 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine will enter Georgia shortly. Georgia will also secure 14 500 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine in the coming week.
