“For the crime prevention, it is especially important that the operation is completed,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, the executive secretary of the Georgian Dream regarding the question on whether the attacker’s escape might encourage the crime.
As Kobakhidze noted, everyone should wish success to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia so that it can successfully complete the ongoing special operation.
“It is especially important for the crime prevention that the operation is completed. This is also paramount to prevent specific crimes in general and to prevent a similar type of crimes,” stated Kobakhidze.
An armed man attacked the Bank of Georgia branch in Zugdidi and took 43 citizens as a hostage on Wednesday.
The attacker, who kept the hostages for over seven hours, demanded half a million USD and security guarantees.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said as a result of a special police operation, all hostages have been released and their lives and health are no longer in danger.
Law enforcers continue intensive operative-investigative and search activities in order to arrest the assailant.
