Mosque construction issue settled in Buknari

The mosque construction issue in Buknari village in Chokhatauri Municipality is solved following a meeting at the Chokhatauri City Hall on Thursday.

Mufti of the Administration of Muslims of All Georgia and the government representatives decided that the prayer would continue in a mosque in Buknari.

On top of that, Muslim and Christian residents of Buknari and the government representatives will meet again on Friday.

“We do not want tensions in the village but to keep living in brotherhood,” a majoritarian MP, Vasil Chigogidze, said after the meeting.

Muslim community and Christian residents of Buknari village clashed on Tuesday. The Christian dwellers opposed the Muslim community’s request for arranging a mosque.
