Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement regarding Georgian citizens residing in Iraq

The Embassy of Georgia in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is in contact with Georgian citizens living in Iraq, many of whom are concentrated in the Kurdistan region.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the situation in the cities of Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah is calm and citizens are not in danger. However, the hotline of embassy operates in a 24-hour regime +962 797 299 799 .

The top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was killed on January 3 in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport. Tehran vowed to take “severe revenge”.  US President Trump has warned the US is “targeting” 52 Iranian sites and will strike “very fast and very hard” if Tehran attacks Americans or US assets.
