Minister of Internal Affairs arrives in Zugdidi

Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri arrived in Zugdidi town of western Samegrelo region.

The Minister is meeting with representatives of local authorities, Zugdidi Mayor and Acting State Envoy of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region at Zugdidi City Hall. Heavy vehicles are deployed outside the Zugdidi City Hall.

Emergency operative-search-investigation activities are ongoing for safe release of the hostages taken at the branch office of Bank of Georgia in Zugdidi.

An armed man took 19 hostages at the branch office of Bank of Georgia at Gamsakhurdia Street in the center of Zugdidi town, western Samegrelo region this afternoon. One part of the hostages has already left the building. Law enforcers are mobilized outside the bank.
