Minister of Economy: Foreign companies are about to transfer part of their business to Georgia

Japanese, South Korean and German companies are about to transfer part of their business to Georgia, Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, said today.

As the Minister explained, foreign companies will obtain advantages by doing business in Georgia. She noted that the government has already created the plan regarding this interest.

“I do not want to talk prematurely as the negotiations are still in progress, but trust me, Japanese, South Korean and German companies have already expressed a desire to bring some of their supply chains to Georgia, because we offer attractive, democratic business environment, stable economy, transparent law, low taxes and renewed programs that will be presented in the framework of the post-crisis plan,” Natia Turnava stressed.

At the same time, according to the Minister, despite the suspension of global business activity, several large investors have already decided to enter Georgia.

“Earlier this week, one of the huge companies of Japan – Tepko (Tokyo Electric Power Company) –  has entered Georgia. This is the largest direct Japanese investment in Georgian history,” the Minister of Economy stated.
