Mikheil Saakashvili found guilty into Valery Gelashvili case

Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has been sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment into case of physical abuse of businessman and former MP Valery Gelashvili.

Judge of Tbilisi City Court Shorena Guntsadze has announced the guilty verdict today.

The former President was found guilty of exceeding official authorities with use of violence as well as of organizing intentional damage to health.

As a reminder, the Former Interior Minister, Ivane Merabishvili, former Head of the Special Operative Department, Erekle Kodua and former Head of the unite of the same department Gia Siradze were charged into the same case. Merabishvili, Kodua and Siradze were found guilty into this case by the court.

This is the second guilty verdict for Mikheil Saakashvili. Into the episode of Sandro Girgvliani he was sentenced to three years in prison.
