MIA released official information and video footage on Davit Kirkitadze's detention

Davit Kirkitadze has been detained in accordance with judge’s ruling, for assaulting police officer and property damage, – Vladimer Bortsvadze, Director of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs made this statement at a briefing today.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs made an official statement on the detention of Member of the United National Movement Davit Kirkitadze .

According to Vladimer Bortsvadze, Davit Kirkitadze was detained related to Velistsikhe incident under Article 353 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving an assault on police officers or other representatives of the authorities or on a public institution.

As Vladimer Bortsvadze notes investigation into the case is in progress and it’s not excluded that the list of the defendants be expanded.

Kirkitadze was involved in the confrontation that took place between “National Movement” members and law enforcers in Velistsikhe village, Gurjaani district yesterday. MIA has launched the investigation into the case. As Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Natia Mezvrishvili stated today “anyone who saw Davit Kirkitadze’s actions yesterday, should not be surprised if the investigation became interested in him”.
