MIA publishes late cameraman's interim toxicology report

Narcotics overdose could have caused the death of TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava, announced Director of the Central Criminal Police Department Mamuka Chelidze on Monday following the interim toxicological analysis that detected drugs during forensic autopsy.

Mamuka Chelidze showed the video footage depicting the late cameraman and his friend riding a scooter in Tbilisi.

Chelidze claims the video proves that Lashkarava felt bad twice after using drugs he and his friend bought in a suburb Ponichala.

The protesters who demand the government’s resignation over Lashkarava’s death at the Parliament building marched to the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) HQ to decry MIA’s recent statement.

TV Pirveli cameraman Lekso Lashkarava found dead in his home on Sunday after being assaulted by far-right activists on July 5.

Interior Ministry (MIA) launched a probe into the case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, involving incitement to suicide.

As of today, five persons have been detained for attacking TV Pirveli crew Miranda Baghaturia and Aleksandre Lashkarava, Interior Ministry reported.
