Police have detained a man for murdering a 9-year-old girl in Gori town, – Deputy Interior Minister Kakha Sabanadze told journalists.

According to him, the suspect I.N was detained as a result of investigative activities.

“As a result of operative-investigative activities carried out by the special group created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Shida Kartli Regional Police Department, the perpetrator has been identified.

As a result of operative activities and on the basis of the route of a child each apartment was studied in detail, where the suspicious blood trace was discovered. The relevant expertise was  appointed.

On the basis of the above evidence and other evidence, I.N. was detained under Article 109 (2) (b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia” – Kakha Sabanadze said.

An investigation is in progress under Article 109 (2) (b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (murder under aggravating circumstances of a minor or a helpless person knowingly by the offender).

A nine-year-old girl was found dead on the bank of Liakhvi River yesterday.

According to the MIA, Kakha Sabanadze, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs is headed by the investigation.
