MIA – Cases of violence against children increased

The number of cases of violence against children increased in 2019 – Goga Khatiashvili, Head of Human Rights Division of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported during the sitting of the Georgian Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee.

According to Khatiashvili, the number of issued Restraining Orders has also increased. The 110 parents were held criminally responsible during the first five months of 2019.

Khatiashvili said the statistics indicated that the measures had to be tightened for the prevention of the crime.
