Russian MFA: Georgia should start direct dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia and repeal Law on Occupied Territories

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia released a statement on the 43 rd round of Geneva talks, which was held on March 27-28.

“Despite Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s March 9 encouraging statement about making progress at the Geneva talks, representatives of Tbilisi turned the meeting into a propagandistic speech. Basing their speech on the thesis of the “Russian Occupation”, the Georgian side has again attempted to blame Russia of own inability to settle relations with Sokhumi and Tskhinvali, ” – the statement reads.

According to statement “Tbilisi’s representatives focused on Tatunashvili’s case and tried to accuse not only South Ossetia but also Russia of his death.”

“Georgia should seriously think about restoration of confidence with its neighbors: to start a direct dialogue based on mutual respect in Geneva with Abkhazia and South Ossetia and to repeal the “Law on Occupied Territories”,” – the statement reads.
