MFA of Georgia on composition of delegation for Committee of Ministers' meeting

“It is too early to speak about the composition and agenda of the delegation for the Committee of Ministers’ meeting scheduled for May, 2020,” the  Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia told Georgian First Channel.

“Georgia will host a meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in May. Our country is in coordination with the Secretariat of the Committee of Ministers. It is too early to speak about the composition and agenda of the delegation,” the Ministry stated.

“In contrast with Vladimir Putin’s policy, Georgia respects international obligations. We will host the Committee of Ministers as dictated by the principles and rules of the body,” the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said in response to a question asked by the member of the Russian delegation Leonid Kalashnikov at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Later, the President of Georgia made further clarifications regarding her statement. Salome Zurabishvili explained that she “did not invite Russian delegation, but unlike Russia, Georgia respects international law and is ready to host the meeting.”
