MEP Marina Kaljurand hopes GD, opposition to work together in parliament

European Parliament member Marina Kaljurand hopes “the ruling Georgian Dream party and the opposition can bridge their differences by working together in a diverse, multiparty Parliament, rather than burn bridges.”

Georgian parliament abstained revoking the fifty-one opposition MPs mandates during its first spring session on Tuesday. Those MPs believe the October 31 parliamentary elections were a fraud and demand repeat elections.

A total of sixty opposition MPs secured their seats through the October elections. Among them, fifty-one MPs started to boycott the parliament. Six opposition MPs already took up their seats. The remaining three Girchi members are yet undecided whether to enter the parliament or request mandate termination.
