Mateusz Morawiecki – EU countries have right to determine court system according to traditions

Member states of the European Union have the right to determine their court systems according to their own traditions – Mateusz Jakub Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland said during his speech delivered in the European Parliament.

Morawiecki gave the speech after changes were enforced into court system of Poland. EU said the initiated changes were limiting independence of court and hinted on the problems with regard to the supremacy of law.

Official Warsaw claims that the changes are necessary to improve accountability of the court system.
