Mariam Chanturia wins title of European Champion

Mariam Chanturia has won the title of the European Champion at U23 European Judo Championships in Izhevsk city of the Russian Federation.

Chanturia, a member of the Georgian judo team, competing in the 70-kg weight category, defeated Hilde Jager from Netherlands in the decisive round.

The Georgian judoka defeated the rivals from Israel and Belarus before and won against the competitor from Croatia in the semi-final.

Mariam Chanturia is the second Georgian judoka after Varlam Liparteliani, who won the gold medal at the European Judo Championships.
