Mamuka Bakhtadze - We have specific proposals to introduce to our European partners about how to make our integration process more efficient

We have never been so close to European structures. Accordingly, this is a historic chance and we should use it, – Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at Tbilisi airport before leaving for Brussels.

Georgian Prime Minister spoke about the importance of the visit and stated that they have specific proposals and initiatives to be introduced to European colleagues.

“This is a very important visit. This format was created specifically for Georgia as for the most successful country on the path of European integration. We will have meetings with Donald Tusk, President of the Council of Europe and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission. This is a specially designed format for Georgia in order to enable us to set new ways and goals together with our European partners for bringing Georgia closer to Europe. We have never been so close to European structures. Therefore, this is a historic chance and we should use it.

In addition, we will have thematic discussions about how to create new opportunities and perspectives in different directions, such as economics, agriculture, education and other areas. We have specific proposals to introduce to our European partners about how to make our integration process more efficient and get more concrete results for our citizens. In addition, some very important initiatives are being discussed at the level of the European Commission and I hope these initiatives will be successful,” Bakhtadze said.

On November 20-21, Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, together with the governmental delegation, is paying a working visit to Brussels. On November 21, the inaugural session in a new top-level format will be held under the chairmanship of the Head of Georgian Government and President Jean-Claude Juncker of the European Commission to seek deeper sectoral cooperation between Georgia and the EU. Members of the Georgian Cabinet and European Commissioners will participate in the meeting.

Within the framework of the visit, Prime Minister will hold several bilateral high-level meetings, and negotiations with President Donald Tusk of the European Council and President Jean-Claude Juncker of the European Commission, followed by a joint press conference by the meeting’s parties.
