Mamuka Bakhtadze: John Bolton has a concrete vision of how we can further cement strong strategic relations between US and Georgia

As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated after today’s meeting with US National Security Advisor John Bolton in the White House, John Bolton is a great friend of Georgia; and he has a concrete vision of how we can further cement the strong strategic relations developing between the US and Georgia, and these have been the issues discussed by us.

The Prime Minister emphasized the progress achieved in this direction over the past two years and pointed out that the Government of Georgia, similar to its counterparts in the White House, has a concrete vision of ways to deepen further and advance these relations to a new level.

“We discussed the challenges facing Georgia, namely Russian occupation, and the role played by the US in ensuring that we join efforts to overcome these challenges in Georgia. At the same time, we spoke about the regional situation. In this context, challenges are growing. We also overviewed economic issues. Cementing and strengthening our relations in the economic dimension is equally important. The Georgian Government has a concrete plan in this direction, which I introduced to Mister Bolton. We enjoy full support in this direction, among others. There is considerable potential in the economic dimension, which we must tap into through joint efforts,” the Prime Minister stated.

According to Mamuka Bakhtadze, Georgia’s friends are very positive about intensifying free trade negotiations. During the visit, meetings will be held with all relevant agencies to elaborate on this issue.

“The attitude is very positive. There is a technical and economic justification document developed by four major companies, which cites concrete numbers showing how this may have a positive impact on the economic cooperation between our two countries,” the Head of Government emphasized.
