Mamuka Bakhtadze: Education sector's funding increases annually and will reach its maximum by 2022

“The funding for the education sector increases annually and will reach its maximum by 2022,” – Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze said at the National Library of Georgia while presenting the new initiative “Education – path to Freedom”.

According to the Prime Minister, together with Finland, Norway, Denmark and Singapore, Georgia will become the leading country in the world, the main priority of which will be the education and development of human capital.

Last year, at the Ikalto Academy, we announced a large-scale education reform for the years 2019-2022. This reform is carried out in all five directions, such as pre-school education, secondary education, vocational education, higher education and, of course, science. We announced that we are starting to mobilize resources for the implementation of this large project that has already begun.

But now we want to enter a new stage. Financing of the education sector will increase annually and reach its maximum by 2022, when it will be 6% of the gross domestic product, which, is a quarter of the country’s budget.”, – Prime minister said.

“This means that preschool and general education will reach the European level, and the teacher’s profession will be one of the highest paid jobs in Georgia,” – the Prime Minister said.
