Lelo: Opposition unity to continue

There is a resource for continuation and success of the negotiations. Correct involvement of the Georgian Dream party is crucial in this process, said Grigol Gegelia, a member of the Lelo party.

According to Gegelia, unity of the opposition stands and will continue until the ‘system reload.’ The ruling party made no effort to resolve the crisis.

“The Georgian Dream made all steps backward through which it betrayed the best of national interests of the country. The opposition agreed on three points. Now it is upon the government to decide,” Gegelia claimed.

According to the Lelo party member, high-ranking international partners are expected to arrive in Georgia in April. “Their arrival will serve as making efforts of the European Union in Georgia,” Gegelia said.

Charles Michel, the European Council President, proposed a six-point draft agreement to be negotiated to the ruling Georgian Dream Party and the opposition.

The second EU-mediated attempt to solve political crises in Georgia failed. EU mediator Christian Danielsson said he proposed a solution that puts the country’s interest first to the parties, but none of the political actors agreed on the solution.
