Lawyer – Investigation appointed complex commission expertise into Archil Tatunashvili’s murder case

Investigation has appointed a complex commission expertise into murder case of Archil Tatunashvili, Georgian soldier who died in occupied Tskhinvali region – Tamar Avaliani, lawyer of the family and attorney of Human Rights Center told journalists after the meeting at Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau.

Giorgi Tatunashvili, father of Archil Tatunashvili met with experts of Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau earlier this afternoon. Aleksandre Khojevanishvili, Head of General Inspection of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) attended the meeting.

Giorgi Tatunashvili told First Channel that he had additional questions to experts after he became introduced with results of the medical expertise.  The expertise conclusion was given to the family 3 days ago.

The medical conclusion of Levan Samkharauli Forensic Bureau conducted on the corpse of Archil Tatunashvili, Georgian soldier who died in occupied Tskhinvali region, describes about 100 injuries.

Tamar Avaliani, lawyer of the family and attorney of Human Rights Center, said that it was impossible to determine exact causes of Tatunashvili’s death based on the expertise results.

Avaliani claimed that the 46 injuries had been inflicted with a flat object during lifetime. The dead body also had fractures in the forehead area and near eyes. “The injuries are so serious that they could not have been inflicted without torture and inhuman treatment,” Avaliani claimed. She also reported that specialists would conduct commission expertise.

Archil Tatunashvili’s body was repatriated from occupied Tskhinvali on March 20.
