Kelly Degnan: United States will send 2,000 high-quality rapid tests to Georgia

The United States will send 2,000 high-quality rapid tests to Georgia, – US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said in a video address.

According to the ambassador, many agencies of the United States government are assisting Georgia, including the US Department of Defense.

“The Embassy’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency is buying the 100,000 GEL worth of personal protective equipment to donate to the Ministry of Health”, – Kelly Degnan said noting that the mentioned items will be purchased from a Georgian company.

“We have found a Georgian company that produces these items which the Ministry so badly needs. So we are able to buy what Georgians need from Georgian producers, and that’s doubly profitable”, – she said.

According to the ambassador, the United States will also send rapid tests to Georgia.

“The United States will also send 2,000 high-speed rapid test kits to Georgia, which can detect the COVID-19 virus within hours.” – Kelly Degnan added.
