Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party and Tbilisi Mayor, said, from a political point of view, he “completely understands the president’s decision to pardon Gigi Ugulava and Irakli Okruashvili.”

As Kaladze told reporters, President Salome Zurabishvili has repeatedly explained why she made the decision to pardon.

“The President was an only person who had the leverage to pardon. It was her decision and she has made relevant explanations regarding it. I completely understand this decision of the President from a political point of view,” Kaladze said.

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili pardoned Gigi Ugulava, one of the leaders of European Georgia Party and Irakli Okruashvili, former defense minister on May 15.
