Japan will allocate USD 343 million for construction of Rikoti highway

Japan will allocate USD 343 million for construction of Shorapani-Argvela section of the highway, at Rikoti Pass. The corresponding agreement will be signed within the frameworks of the visit of Foreign Minister of Japan to Georgian.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Tarō Kōno will pay an official visit to Georgia on September 4-5. He will hold meetings with the President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Tarō Kōno will honor the memory of the warriors who died for the unity of Georgia and will decorate the memorial of the heroes.

“Within the frameworks of the visit, the Agreement will be signed through the exchange of Diplomatic Notes between the governments of Japan and Georgia on the East-West Highway Improvement Project (Phase 2). The agreement envisages allocation of funding in the amount of 38.735.000.000 Japanese Yen (equal to USD 343 million) for construction of Shorapani-Argvela section of the highway.  The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan to Georgia is the confirmation of friendly relations between the two countries and the highest level of support for Georgia, “- the Foreign Ministry of Georgia says.
