Israeli introduces restrictions regarding Easter-related ceremonies in Jerusalem

The Israeli government has decided to introduce restrictions regarding Easter-related ceremonies in Jerusalem.

The Holy Week for Catholics begins on the 5th April 2020 and for the Greek Orthodox, Armenian, Coptic, Syrian Coptic and Ethiopian Churches on the 12th April 2020.

As foreign media outlets report, during the Holy Fire ceremony, there will likely be 10-12 representatives of the Orthodox Church of different countries in the Church of the Holy Sepulche. They will transport the Holy Fire with a police escort to Ben Gurion Airport where it will be distributed to the delegations, who will not disembark from their planes, in order to avoid Israel’s quarantine requirements.

The flights have already been scheduled to bring the Holy fire to Russia, Ukraine and Greece.

The Holy Fire ceremony will take place on the night of April 18, 2020.

The entire Holy Fire ceremony will be live-streamed online.
