Israeli experts publish report on Georgia's successful fight against COVID-19

The Israeli government’s National Information and Knowledge Center for the Struggle against Coronavirus published a report on Georgia’s successful fight against COVID-19.

As stated in the report, the reason behind this success is not only favourable geographical factors but Georgia’s exemplary anti-epidemic policy.

The Israeli experts said the coronavirus cases in Georgia are low – less than 15 cases per day.

The National Information and Knowledge Center pointed out that in early June, the Georgian government held talks with Israel on the border opening, but on June 10, negotiations were suspended due to the epidemiological situation in Israel.

The report noted that since the virus outbreak, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) led by Amiran Gamkrelidze has been in charge of managing the coronavirus in the country.

The report also mentioned the fines imposed for violating quarantine rules, as well as ongoing testing for coronavirus.

The Israeli government’s National Information and Knowledge Center for the Struggle against Coronavirus added that Georgia’s success is particularly distinguished against the background of the failures of other countries in the region.
