Irakli Sesiashvili – Russia has to reconcile with fact that Georgia will become a NATO member

Irakli Sesiashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Defense and Security Committee said that the statement of Gregory Karasin, Deputy Foreign Minister is merely a narrative of the Kremlin and is nothing new.

“Russia has to reconcile with the fact that Georgia will become a NATO member. It will have to pull out its troops from Georgia’s territory. . . . Russia will have a stable and secure southern neighbor that should be in its interests,” Sesiashvili said.

According to MP, Russia’s occupation and Russian military bases violate security system in the region that is unacceptable.

Karasin said in his statement that Georgia’s integration into NATO might pose a threat to Georgian-Russian relations. The meeting between Zurab Abashidze and Gregory Karasin was held on June 13 in Prague.
