Interior Minister: Georgian police to be apolitical, citizen-oriented

Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has congratulated policemen on their professional day.

Minister Gomelauri claims Georgian police are apolitical and citizen-oriented.

“Protecting human rights, fighting crime, and creating a safe environment for the population is the main function of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. I can confidently say that you are doing this successfully, today we have apolitical and citizen-oriented police,” Gomelauri underscored during his speech at the Police Day event.

Today Georgia marks Police Day. On this day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is holding an event which is attended by President of Georgia Salome Zourabicvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, members of the government, and parliament, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia.
