In the case of work-related injuries, Georgian First Channel made a decision to pay the cash compensation to its journalists.

Journalists of the Georgian First Channel — Lika Alelishvili, Nika Mukhigulashvili and cameraman Kakha Jonjua have just received the compensation regarding the injuries received at the protest rally held on June 20-21.

As the Director-General of the Georgian First Channel Vasil Maglaperidze said, journalists should feel safe.

‘It is very important that people who not only deliver news to the audience on a daily basis but also put themselves at risk should feel safe.

Georgian First Channel has decided to give the compensation to its journalists who will receive trauma or injury while on duty.

Needless to say, money does not express everything, but it is a sign of solidarity.

Three of our journalists showed extreme bravery while in a job, and they have received the compensation,’ Vasil Maglaperidze stressed.
