Head of Diseases Control Center – More location restrictions are needed

Introduction of more location restrictions are needed in the country to cope with the increasing daily cases of COVID-19 – Amiran Gmkrelidze, Head of National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health said.

“Amid the pandemic, all European countries introduced certain restrictions. We are following this strategy instead of applying to the spring’s full lockdowns,” Gamkrelidze said after the sitting of Coordination Council.

Georgia has reported 2 775 new coronavirus cases today bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 51 993.

The 3 560 more patients recovered from the virus. The number of recovered patients reached 37 019.

Twenty-two patients died of COVID-19 in Georgia in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 423 in the country.
