“Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is the first TV in the country. Based on our concept, GPB is for all of us, for each of us on every available platform,” said Tinatin Berdzenishvili, GPB Director General.

“Today marks the 65th anniversary of first television broadcasting in Georgia. In the modern world, we probably see the role of technology and media best, how important it is for the development of society.

We are proud that the history of our country’s first broadcasting dates back to 1925 when Georgian Radio was created. TV signal was transmitted from the Tbilisi TV studio at the Mtatsminda Plateau in 1956. Many stages tracked since then.

Today, Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is the first TV in the country. Based on our concept, GPB is for all of us, and each of us, on every available platform. We are everywhere where Georgia is,” Tinatin Berdzenishvili said.

The First Georgian Television turned 65 today. Legendary presenters Lia Mikadze and Aleksandra Machavariani went on air for the first time from a studio at the Tbilisi Funicular at 20:00 on December 30, 1965.
