Switzerland and Lichtenstein were added to the list of countries with which Georgia has free trade relations starting May 1.

First Channel obtained the information from Statistics National Service about the products which are exported to Switzerland. The products include gold, perfumes, cosmetic goods. Medical equipment is mainly imported from Switzerland.

Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) has been activated starting May 1. Switzerland and Lichtenstein are members of EFTA.

According to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the agreement allows allocation of Georgian products without tariff barriers on consumer markets and comprises the following: trade with goods, services, sanitary norms, cooperation in customs affairs, intellectual property, state purchasing and competitiveness.

Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and EFTA was signed on June 27, 2016 in Bern city of Swiss Confederation within the framework of Europe’s Free Trade Association Ministerial.
