Girchi member: Ex-president to threaten with arrest of people

Vakhtang Megrelishvili, a member of the opposition Girchi party believes that opposition parties have to hurry up with finalizing the electoral idea with which they would participate in the upcoming local elections.

According to Megrelishvili, the leader of the United National Movement (UNM) has to clarify the party viewpoints and specify if they differ from the policy of the UNM when it represented the ruling party.

“I saw the video of Mikheil Saakashvili (ex-president) yesterday where he, in fact, threatens with the arrest of people on the example of a Ukrainian General. This means that the main purpose of the UNM and his leader is to come into politics and establish order with the arrests. The conflict between the two parties does not allow anybody to speak about any idea.

We were speaking about 2 billion of the National Bank and there was not a single opposition MP in the parliament hall. These people struggle to come into power and seize the court, which is not independent, as we declare.

If the court system is under control of the Georgian Dream today, it will be obedient to another party tomorrow, and we will have no opportunity to speak about what should happen to change it institutionally,” Megrelishvili claimed.
