Girchi considers local self-government elections to serve as plebiscite

The opposition Girchi party demands a natural threshold for the next elections.

One of the Girchi leaders, Iago Khvichia, believes the opposition should benefit from the local self-government elections to serve as a plebiscite.

“If the opposition wins, new elections should be scheduled. But if we lose, then we should stop worrying about the snap elections,” Khvichia noted.

Khvichia added that Girchi would hold talks with all opposition parties and the government to hear counter-arguments regarding this idea.

Earlier today, the opposition Citizens and Girchi parties kicked off talks about the next elections. They also discuss halting boycott and enter the parliament.
