It is important that each of our submitted candidates is ready to be fully transparently subjected to any developed criterion and regulation, – Giorgi Mikautadze, Secretary of the High Council of Justice, said after meeting with the Chairman of Parliament.

“We agreed that the meeting of a wide working group will be held in the future, where we will discuss the criteria for the selection of judges of the Supreme Court. As for the submitted candidates, I had a conversation with each of them and everyone’s position is that each of them is ready to be subjected to the new criteria.

There is no procedure to withdraw the list. Accordingly, if new criteria are developed, we are ready to absolutely transparently get involved in the open process,” Mikautadze said.

According to Mikautadze, it is wrong to make general accusations against the submitted candidates. “It is time to be specific if there are specific allegations against individual candidates,” Mikautadze said.
