German Chancellor to pay official visit to Georgia

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze met with Ambassador of Germany to Georgia Hayek Pahich.

Governmental Administration informs that the parties discussed the visit of Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia, bilateral relations and the main issues of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Prime Minister noted that the government evaluates the official visit of Chancellor Angela Merkel to Georgia, which will be carried out in the nearest future, as a very important event in the development of bilateral relations.

Bakhtadze emphasized Germany’s important role in the process of institutional development of the country. The meeting focused on trade-economic ties and the growth of German investments in Georgia as well as the importance of education in sustainable economic development.

“The meeting touched upon the steps taken by the Government of Georgia to encourage small and medium businesses to create new jobs and to overcome poverty. The German side positively assessed the Prime Minister’s Environmental Vision – Green Economy. The Prime Minister and the Ambassador also talked about future presidential elections. Mamuka Bakhtadze pointed out that the Government of Georgia is providing free, fair and transparent environment for elections,” reads the information released by the Governmental Administration.
