Georgia’s Foreign Minister meets with US Congressman Bill Flores

David Zalkaliani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia met with US Congressman Bill Flores.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister once again expressed gratitude to the Congress for unprecedented support to Georgia, which was expressed by initiating and approving a number of legislative acts or resolutions.

“The sides welcomed re-initiation of Georgia’s supportive act at the 116th convocation Congress and that Senate supports the increase of financial assistance for Georgia,” Georgian Foreign Ministry reported. “The congressman once again expressed his support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its Euro-Atlantic integration path.

The Georgian side expressed its readiness to actively cooperate with the new Congress. The Minister provided the Congressman with information about the security environment in the occupied regions of Georgia and also introduced the Georgian government’s peace initiative for the peaceful settlement of the conflict and stressed the importance of US political and practical support in this process.

The sides discussed the planned and ongoing reforms of the Government of Georgia, the economic and investment opportunities of Georgia and the importance of development of cooperation with the US in this regard. In this context, the sides emphasized the prospect of signing a free trade agreement between Georgia and the United States and support of the US Congress in this regard,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
