Georgian sailor, detained in Libya, returned to Georgia

Georgian sailor Soslan Kakabadze, who had been detained in Libya since 2015, has returned to Batumi town.

The family members, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Maritime Transport Agency met him at Batumi airport.

Soslan Kakabadze, the citizen of Georgia who was detained in Libya, was released from the court trial in the city of Tripoli, Libya on April 29.

Soslan Kakabadze started working at the vessel, sailing under the flag of Togo in 2015. After 12 days, the crew of vessel was detained in Libya. As Kakabadze’s family members say, the vessel was detained on the charge of attempt to shift the illegal oil.

Two Georgian citizens Genadi Komakhidze and Roma Kakaladze still remain in Libya prison. Their trial is scheduled for May 20th.
