Georgian President requests more EU involvement in Georgian conflict resolution process

President of Georgia raised the issue of greater EU involvement in the conflict resolution process in Georgia. Salome Zourabichvili held a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President Joseph Borrell, in Brussels on Thursday.

The President discussed the security and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, her administration reports. The EU High Representative reaffirmed the EU’s strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The meeting underlined the importance of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia and the Geneva talks, where the EU plays a mediator and, to some extent, the guarantor roles.

EU representative welcomed Georgia’s significant progress in fulfilling its obligations under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, as well as the progress made in the Eastern Partnership.

Georgian President invited Joseph Borrell to Georgia.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is on her two-day visit to Brussels to meet high-ranking EU and NATO officials.
