Georgian President: Country needs internal stability, reconciliation, dialogue

The European Union needs more stability, democracy, more economic development from Georgia. It is crucial to work with the EU on a post-crisis plan, said Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili after a face-to-face meeting with the European Council President Charles Michel.

According to Salome Zourabichvili, they focused on the political situation in Georgia at the meeting. The President believes that Georgia needs internal stability, reconciliation, and dialogue as never before.

At the same time, the Georgian President thanked the President of the European Council for his support.

“We talked in detail about the political situation. We agreed that this country needs internal stability, reconciliation, dialogue as never before. That is the only way for Georgia to receive all dividends on its path to the EU. We must timely realize that we are in control of this. Our society requires it, nothing else. The political responsibility of all parties means meeting the requests of the society and taking Georgia on the path chosen by the society,” said Salome Zourabichvili.

President of the European Council Charles Michel will hold official meetings today during his visit to Georgia.

Charles Michel held the first meeting with the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili at the Orbeliani Palace. He also plans to meet the PM, Parliament Speaker, and the leaders of political parties.

The President of the European Council will visit the occupation line near the village of Khurvaleti, attend the inauguration of the new EU office in Georgia and inspect the EU-funded project. Charles Michel will leave Georgia on March 2.
