Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulates media representatives on World Press Freedom Day.

PM believes the Constitution of Georgia guarantees freedom of the press and media pluralism.

“When the Georgian Dream came to power, Georgia was ranked 100th in the Press Freedom Index. The situation improved following reforms in recent years. Our country has advanced by 40 points. Today we are a leader in the region and ahead of many developed countries,” PM underscored.

The United Nations General Assembly declared May 3 as the World Press Freedom Day. The day is marked to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression.
