The Georgian population is electing President through the direct rule last time today. The 5th president will be elected with 6-year-term till 2023.

The new rule of president’s election is defined by the new Constitution will be enforced after the inauguration of the 5th President of Georgia.

Following October 28, 2018 presidential elections, President of Georgia will be elected with 5-year-term through open balloting by the Election Collegiums, which will be staffed by members of parliament and 300 members of self-governance bodies from across the country and all members of Adjara and Abkhazia Autonomous Republics.

The membership of Election Collegiums will be approved by the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC).

Based on new Constitution, Presidential elections will be held in October of 2023 in Parliamentary Palace. The right to presentation of a presidential candidate will go to no less than 30 members of Election Collegiums.

The candidate, who receives at least 2/3 of full membership, will be considered as the winner of the first round.

President of Georgia can be a person after 40, who has lived in Georgia for the last 15 years.

The Georgian parliament approved new Constitution of Georgia in March of 2018.
