Georgian Parliament adopted 705 laws in 2018

The year of 2018 was very prolific with respect to legislative activities – Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker said in his speech delivered during the first plenary sitting of the spring session of the parliament.

According to Kobakhidze, the parliament adopted 705 laws last year. “It does not matter who was the author or initiator of the draft bill. Every law was drafted with the intention and inspiration to care about the country, people and bringing welfare of each family,” Chairman of the Parliament stated.

Kobakhidz thanked Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, members of Cabinet of Ministers and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze for being present in the parliament and attending his speech. Kobakhidze is presenting the annual report of the parliament’s activities for 2018 as well as the future plan for 2019.

The spring session of the parliament of the 9th convocation has been opened earlier this afternoon. The state anthem was performed in the Parliament’s Tbilisi building. The 121 MPs are attending the plenary session. Starting today, the parliament will continue its legislative activities in the parliament building in Tbilisi.
