Georgian Manganese offers salary increase by 250 GEL, strikers reject

Georgian Manganese LLC declared that they agreed to increase the salary of each miner by 250 GEL during the meeting with the representatives of the trade unions. The company assesses this decision as unprecedented.

“We held negotiations with the representatives of trade unions, and we’ve agreed to increase the salary of each miner and worker by 250 GEL. In parallel, the company decided to suspend all non-core activities or social projects carried out in favour of various beneficiaries,” reads a statement released by the company.

According to the representatives of the trade unions, they have introduced the company’s position to the miners, but protesters rejected the offer.

About 3 700 diggers of thirteen mines went on a strike in Chiatura, Imereti region this morning. Employees of the Georgian Manganese demanded an increase in salaries by 50% and the health insurance improvement.
