Georgian Interior Minister meets EU MSs Ambassadors

Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Georgia, Carl Hartzell, Ambassadors of the EU Member States (EU MSs), as well as the representatives of the EU MSs embassies.

The parties discussed the upcoming October 2 race and the importance of holding the election in a safe and free environment, MIA press service reported.

Interior Ministry aims to protect the public order and ensure holding the ballots in a free, democratic and safe environment throughout the country, Gomelauri asserted.

The Minister briefed European partners on the investigative and operative measures undertaken by the Ministry within the ongoing investigations concerning the July 5-6 events.

Ambassadors of Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and Slovenia attended the meeting. The representatives of the Embassies of Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Hungary and Netherlands also participated in the meeting, the press statement read.
