Georgian government ready for direct dialogue with Abkhazia and Ossetia on de-politicized issues

“We will not accept the occupation and will continue to struggle with its fatal impacts,” said Tea Akhvlediani, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.

The State Minister spoke about the violation of fundamental rights of locals residing across the occupied regions at the joint sitting of the parliamentary Interim Commission on Restoration of Territorial Integrity and De-occupation and Branch Economy and Economic Policy.

Tea Akvlediani reaffirmed the Georgian government’s readiness for a direct dialogue over de-politicized issues.

She said the peace initiative A Step to Better Future served as the confirmation to expand the exchange with the Abkhazian and Ossetian communities. That concerns the use of neutral-status channels over a range of acute issues such as economy, Covid pandemic, healthcare, agriculture, energy, education, environment protection, etc.

“We wish the reconciliation process to intensify. We aim to effectively use all communication channels to develop and diversify dialogue platforms that will aim at improving the humanitarian and household conditions of the population,” Tea Akhvlediani stated.
