Georgian citizens over 55 to join COVID-19 vaccine rollout

Georgian citizens aged 55 and above will join the COVID-19 vaccine rollout on Monday. Four thousand people of this age group have already registered for the Covid-19 jab.

According to the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), 10,845 volunteers from medical staff and a population aged 65 and above got the coronavirus vaccine as of today. Additional 19,170 people, including 3,848 medical staff, and 11,081 people aged 65/above, booked the vaccine appointment before April 30.

The police officers and military personnel participating in the international missions will get the Covid-19 shots.

NCDC added that five more hospitals in the Georgian capital Tbilisi would involve in the inoculation process.

Georgia secured 100,000 Chinese Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine on Saturday. The country will start to use it after the WHO approval.

Georgia has already received the first batch of AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines in March.
