Georgian and Ukrainian PMs discuss EU aspiration issues

“One of the main issues of our meeting was our aspiration towards the European Union”, Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian Prime Minister, stated at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Thursday.

Sides also discussed the integration of both countries into NATO.

“One of the main issues of our meeting was our aspiration towards the European Union. Of course, both countries are determined to become European Union members, and we, naturally, have talked a lot about it. On May 17, Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova signed a memorandum on the Associated Trio, which is an important political statement. We also discussed the integration of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. Both countries are also very motivated to become full members of NATO very soon. As you know, at the Bucharest Summit, the Allies decided that Georgia and Ukraine would become members of NATO. Over the years, our countries have made significant progress on this path”, Georgia PM said.
